Teachers Wit Guns exists to challenge the status quo by blending raw storytelling with cinematic soundscapes, creating music that sparks thought, emotion, and action. We reject superficial narratives, instead crafting songs that speak to real experiences—personal struggles, societal issues, and the complexities of modern life—with honesty and depth. Beyond the music, we use our platform to raise awareness about gun violence, mental health, and the power of self-expression, proving that art can be both a voice for change and a source of healing.

not just a band—a movement.

Teachers Wit Guns (TWG) is an alternative band from Detroit, Michigan, redefining the city’s sound with a fusion of 60s and 70s rock, Y2K nostalgia, and raw storytelling. Founded by John McCartney, Heizenburr, NBDYS100, and Dxpe Dilla, the band’s name began as a tongue-in-cheek homage to classic groups but took on a deeper meaning in response to rising gun violence. While not overtly political, their music confronts personal trauma and societal struggles with unflinching honesty. Their debut project, Teachers With Guns Vol. 1, weaves cinematic soundscapes with bold narratives, earning recognition for standout tracks like “Wear It Well,” which was featured on Fox 2 News and has amassed over 77,000 views.

More than just a band, TWG is a movement. In an era where mainstream music often prioritizes image over substance, they remain dedicated to creating art with meaning—eschewing clichés of money and violence in favor of authenticity, introspection, and social awareness. Drawing inspiration from Detroit legends like Slum Village and J Dilla, they aim to push boundaries while staying true to their vision. With plans to tour, release solo projects, and make their mark on the festival circuit, TWG is proving that substance and storytelling still matter in music.
